9 August 2012 (09:23)

The cold-roll Mill 2000 of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) has reached its maximum production output since the moment it was launched.

When Mill 2000 and the continuous etching line were launched in July 2011, the first stage of the construction of a cold-roll facility that is currently unique to the Russian metallurgical industry was complete.

This July, the second stage of the construction was finished. The facility’s overall capacity comes to 2m tons of produce a year. The facility is meant for making cold-rolled and galvanized products for the automobile industry, white goods manufacturers, and the building industry. The project cost a total of 44.5bn RUR. In July 2012, 106,854 tons of goods were made at Mill 2000, and the expected output for August comes to 115,000 tons. What is more, 20,000 tons of cold-rolled annealed sheets and 15,000 tons of galvanized rolled metal products will be made at Sheet Rolling Department 11, where Mill 2000 and the units for the second extension to the cold-roll facility launched this July are located.
