UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 3, 2018. 527,955,000 kg of rolled metal goods got made at hot-roll Mill 2000 at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK); this set a new monthly output record for the facility, the company’s press service reports.
The last time a production record was set at MMK’s most efficient facility was in May, when 527,505,000 kg of hot-rolled goods were manufactured.
MMK’s Mill 2000 got launched in 1994 and is now one of Russia’s most powerful hot-roll units. The mill is located at MMK’s Sheet-Rolling Department 10; the facility had to undergo large-scale upgrades and reconstruction in the mid-aughts and got its fourth continuous-type heating furnace and a new set of mechanical equipment, which improved the end product’s mechanical properties and made it possible to start making thicker goods varieties. Mill 2000 also grew more productive (up to 6,000,000,000 kg a year). The mill has been operating at its maximum capacity for the last few years, making its 100,000,000,000th kg of hot-rolled steel goods in 2015.
