15 January 2019 (09:36)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, January 15, 2019. MMK Group’s asset MMK METIZ recently got audited and re-certified for compliance with the new rail industry standard ISO/TS 22163:2017. The company is now one of Russia’s first metal goods makers to get certified for the standard.

According to MMK METIZ’s press service, it took the representatives of German-based certification authority DQS’s Russian branch a week to conduct a full audit of the company’s management system and test it for compliance with the ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard; the new standard comes to replace the earlier one known as IRIS.

The standard compliance gets assessed on a percentage scale, with scores assigned in the course of the audit. MMK METIZ’s management system’s maturity was estimated at 65%. The auditors stressed this is a very impressive score for the company that gets certified for the standard for the very first time.

Holding a valid ISO/TS 22163:2017 certificate is crucial for MMK METIZ’s ongoing partnership with its key customer Russian Railways. The standard describes all the requirements set for rail industry’s suppliers. ISO/TS 22163 also covers an assessment of a company’s management system that facilitates the system’s continuous improvement and describes the requirements for the entire production chain. A management system that meets the said requirements allows the supplier to optimize production, improve produce quality and make it more competitive, and support MMT METIZ as one of the rail industry’s key suppliers.
