URBD: Number of POS Terminals Up 31%

28 November 2018 (09:42)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 28, 2018. The Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) reports a dramatic increase in the demand for acquiring services: the number of POS terminals rose by 31% in the ten months of 2018 compared with one year earlier, whereas the POS terminal turnover went up by 32%. These are mostly grocery stores and cafes/restaurants that keep applying for acquiring options most often.

According to the bank’s press service, their special offer launched in May 2018 was the primary driving force behind this impressively soaring demand. At the beginning of the offer, the daily count of newly signed-up POS terminals increased by 68% compared to the no-special-offer days.

The UBRD’s special offer provides a business with a POS terminal free of charge; the commission comes to 1% if a customer pays by UBRD card and to 1.6% for any other bank’s card; in case no transactions take place, there is no commission whatsoever.

What is more, a business owner can also get access to Light online banking options to manage their acquiring turnover and look up transaction statistics. They can use their online banking account to download their bank statements, track the amounts paid in bank commissions, or give the customers their money back. To make sure there’s always enough money for purchasing (especially during the winter sale days), the UBRD’s business customers can borrow up to RUB 1m on preferential terms.

To apply for the bank’s acquiring services, you need to open a special-terms account at the UBRD first.
