UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 15, 2018. Over 50,000 smart machines operating in the Urals have been connected, with MegaFon’s SIM cards, to the M2M monitoring system, the telecommunications provider’s press service reports.

‘Sensors, meters, cash machines, industrial appliances and terminls get switched to remote control options increasingly more often. There are now twice as many companies and business owners in the Urals who control their equipment online through machine-to-machine monitoring as there were at the start of the year. The overall number of the IoT devices is now comparable wit the population of Greenland, the world’s largest island,’ the press service says.

The technology that relies on mobile network-based data exchange between machines is growing ever more popular: the number of devices that can transfer data automatically has risen by 143% in the last year.

MegaFon SIM cards-controlled smart appliances are typically used to control equipment in the oil and gas industry, logistics, security industry, and the banking sector. Chelyabinsk Region is currently No.1 in terms of online monitoring of equipment, followed by Sverdlovsk Region and Yugra. Perm Territory and Tyumen Region are also among the area’s top five IoT-advanced constituencies.
