UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 13, 2018. The number of gadgets with Internet connection rose by 20% in Ural Federal District over the course of the last twelve months, MegaFon Ural’s press service reports.
According to the company analysts, 150 new devices get connected to the Internet in Ural Federal District every day. The majority of these ‘smart’ appliances are registered in Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, and Chelyabinsk Oblasts. Interestingly, the gadgets are already using up more Internet traffic than human users.
‘The overall amount of Internet traffic in M2M appliances doubled in the course of one year, whereas the amount of 4G data transfer increased by as much as 14 times. Video surveillance units proved the most ‘active’ LTE network users, followed payment terminals and ATMs and security appliances/power meters,’ MegaFon’s press service says.
Additionally, businesses operating in Surgut, Perm, Chelyabinsk, and Yekaterinburg are switching their automobiles to online mode increasingly more often; the idea is to control their fleet of vehicles remotely or to monitor the equipment performance. The number of SIM cards purchased for this exact purpose soared by 135% in 2017.
