EVRAZ Holding Launches New Long-Face at Yerunakovskaya 8 Mine

27 July 2018 (09:16)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 27, 2018. Miners at EVRAZ Holding’s Yerunakovskaya 8 Mine are now working on new Long-Face 48-6, with estimated 2,900,000,000 kg of valuable GZh coal reserves, the company press service reports.

Long-Face 48-6 is located more than five hundred meters below the ground. The mine is fully fitted with highly productive stoping appliances supplied by Joy to ensure output of 250,000,000 to 300,000,000 kg of coal a month, depending on the mining and geological conditions.

The Australian controlled drilling machine VLD 1000 was used to drain out excess gas within the mine for the first time. This new equipment can make long wells in the rock matter under different angles, which means methane can get sucked out more efficiently. Ten wells had to be made to drain out all the excess gas (overall amount: 4.5m m3 of methane).

Alexander Lyane’s team from Coal Production Sector 1 will now be working on the new long-face. The miners intend to produce around 9,000,000 kg of coal a day at the start and up to 14,000,000 kg a day in the near future.
