EVRAZ NTMK Holds Environmental Guided Tour in Nizhniy Tagil

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 10, 2018. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) coordinated an environmental guided tour of its production premises for the town locals. According to the company press service, the plant got visited by Nizhniy Tagil Duma deputies, representatives of environmental and civic organizations, employees of local industrial enterprises, and local medical clinics’ staff.
The visitors got to look at the new Blast Furnace 7 and the plant’s converter and wheelband-making departments and met the plant’s Managing Director Alexei Kushnarev. There was a Q&A session on the plant’s environmental policy and projects on the enterprise’s further tech upgrades.
‘Further upgrades in the cake and by-product process section are currently our key goal. Last year, we launched a renovated dry coke-quenching plant to reduce the plant’s gross emissions by 20%. We’ll also shut down our distilled naphthalene production unit very soon, which will also reduce our naphthalene emissions by as much as 80%,’ Kushnarev said.
