Russia Reacts to U.S. Sanctions
5 June 2018 (12:54)
UrBC, Moscow, June 5, 2018. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a new bill on the ways Russia can counteract in response to the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and other states. The full text is available on the official legal information portal.
Under the new legislature, the Russian Government, acting upon the President’s will, can introduce a range of counteractions/counter sanctions as long as these actions do not jeopardize vital commodities whose counterparts cannot be obtained from Russian/non-U.S. manufacturers.
The decisions can also be made by the President based upon the Security Council’s proposals.
Now the United States imposed sanctions on a number of Russian companies on April 6; this has meant freezing their assets and a ban for U.S. citizens on any business with the sanctioned companies.
