UrBC, Magnitogorsk, December 29, 2017. A new hopper crane was recently launched at the coal preparation shop of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) coke and by-product process department, MMK Information, PR & Advertising Department reports.

‘This is the fifth such crane that was put up at the company as part of our crane facilities reconstruction program (under way since 2005). The program covers for replacing all of the shop’s six cranes. The first four units were bought from the Czech company KCI Konecranes, and the fifth one was made by the Serbian firm GOSA FOM,’ the Department says.

The new crane works on very up-to-date control systems, which ensures the operators’ maximum safety during operation and maintenance. The crane’s capacity is estimated at 700,000 kg of coal per hour.

The crane’s measurements//parameters are as follows:
height: 30 meters;
length of span: 156 meters;
distance between supports: 66 meters;
weight: 1,000,000+ kg;
bearing capacity (crane itself included): 32,000 kg.

OAO Prokatmontazh acted as the general contractor for the assembly jobs. As the company also worked on the four earlier cranes as well, the assembly and startup of the fifth one only took under six months. GOSA FOM representatives handled the installation supervision.
