Akademicheskiy District to Host Aero Show
7 November 2017 (09:54)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 7, 2017. Sverdlovsk Oblast Aeromodeling Federation Cup competition will take place at the School 23 stadium in Yekaterinburg’s Akademicheskiy District this weekend. There will be a Soyuz 500 radio controlled model plane fight and F3U drone racing, RSG-Akademicheskoye’s press service reports.
The rules are quite simple: a fifteen-meter ribbon gets attached to every model plane, and the pilot’s task is to cut off the rival plane’s ribbon with a wing or the rotor. Miniature copies of WWII Soyuz 500 planes (electric engine, wing spread around 1 meter) will feature in the fight.
‘Drone racing is a kind of quadcopter race on a specially designated track. The pilots use special glasses to see images projected from the mini cameras fitted onto the drones,’ the press service says.
The event is coordinated by Sverdlovsk Oblast Aeromodeling Federation, with support from Sverdlovsk Oblast Government’s Youth Policy Department, RSG-Akademicheskoye, the NGO Akademicheskiy Officers, and Akademicheskiy Management Company.
