MMK Launches Flu Shot Campaign
2 October 2017 (14:47)
UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 2, 2017. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is currently holding a large-scale flu shot campaign to prevent workers’ health problems this winter.
According to the company press service, the first batches of imported flu vaccine Influvac are already available at MMK’s medical units.
This year, the flu shot campaign started simultaneously with Chelyabinsk Region Government’s flu awareness campaign (Flu: Know Your Enemy!) that took off on September 23.
‘We can state with confidence that MMK is the largest contributor to the flu awareness campaign at the moment. Our Central Medical Unit’s management are planning to get some 9,000 workers vaccinated this fall. We have been investing in disease prevention on this large scale for decades now, which has helped maintain the so-called community immunity so far. When Magnitogorsk kept struggling with a flu epidemic last winter, the infection rate among MMK Group employees did not even reach the lowest observed effect level,’ the press service says.
The flu shot campaign will be held through October 25. The flu awareness campaign also involves MMK workers getting vitamin bars to help their immune system.
