SKB-Bank Launches Face Recognition Platform

30 August 2017 (16:31)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 30, 2017. SKB-Bank is currently integrationg VisionLabs’ LUNA, a biometric face recognition platform, into its IT infrastructure, the bank’s press service reports.

The two companies signed an open-end licensing agreement in August 2017.

One reason the bank decided to launch the platform was switching to digital banking channels. The contract with VisionLabs is a logical component of SKB-Bank’s development strategy: the face recognition platform can offer the most up-to-date and advanced solutions to a number of important problems.

Analyzing the bank’s customer base for possible fraud and photo-based loan applicant identification are two such challenges at hand. Once this has been mastered, the bank’s credit risks will go down impressively. Using biometric identification in addition to regular security measures (login and password) for online banking also looks promising.

Once part of SKB-Bank’s infrastructure, VisionLabs LUNA will produce good quality photographs of the bank’s customers even in poor lighting conditions and human factor (head-tilting, blinking, mimics) notwithstanding,’ says SKB-Bank’s IT Block Director Maxim Akulinichev.
