10 July 2017 (12:40)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 10, 2017. President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov chaired an off-site meeting of Russian Railways Council for Cooperation with Transport Machine-Building Enterprises at Sinara Group’s Ural Locomotives on July 5, 2017.
According to the Group’s press service, the meeting was attended by Russian Railways Members of the Board, heads of railway divisions, and top managers of locomotive plants and O&M businesses.
Oleg Belozerov’s very first visit to Ural Locomotives began with a tour of the production site. Sinara Group’s Chair of the BOD Dmitri Pumpyansky and the plant’s Director-General Alexander Saltayev presented the whole freight locos and high-speed electric trains production cycle to the official, with a special focus on the facilities meant specifically for rolling stock quality improvement.
All the meeting participants could learn about the technology for step-by-step assembly of 2ES6 locomotives. The assembly process consists in the loco moving along a conveyor belt where various equipment units get fitted onto it one by one. This allows for speedy after-sale maintenance, since the equipment units can get replaced easily. The plant has supplied 702 2ES6 locos to Russian Railways since 2006 all in all.
Visitors to the plant also went to a hi tech, fully automated bogie production site, where all bogie modifications can be made.
