UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, May 15, 2017. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) keeps working on and enhancing its energy saving practices and energy efficiency. For one, the company spent four times more in terms of baby capex initiatives on energy efficient projects last year than in the year 2015, MMK reports.

300m RUR were directed to energy-efficient baby capex projects in 2015 and as many as 1.2bn in the following year. This year’s overall investments are estimated at 1.5bn RUR.

The company also keeps encouraging its own employees to put forth production improvement proposals and tries to outsource its energy services.

390 energy-saving proposals got submitted by the company workers last year, with 138 projects implemented (saving the company 68m RUR all in all). In 2016, Energy Management Platform got launched at MMK, which resulted in more efficient processing and speedier implementation of improvement proposals. The platform’s Ideas Management section was launched this year, which means improvement proposals can now get submitted online. In April 2017, the platform got merged with Evolution, a mobile app for submitting proposals from one’s smartphone.
