UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, September 6, 2016. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) saved 230.5m RUR due to various improvement proposals and their implementation in the first half of 2016. This was 7.1% more than one year earlier.

‘Around 3,000 proposals got submitted in the first half of the year, with 2m RUR paid out in royalty fees. Over a quarter of proposals considered by our department committees had to do with job and industrial safety. Approximately 11% of proposals were related to cutting costs and resource spending as well as to increases in energy efficiency,’ the plant says.

MMK launched Evolution, an Android- and iOS-friendly mobile app for submitting one’s proposals, in April 2016. The app allows a candidate to submit their projects to expert committees not only from their PCs but also with the help of a cell phone. It is reported that 1,211 new users signed up for the app in the first half of the year and 1,102 proposals were submitted for consideration. Quite a few of these actually get implemented. 1,341 improvement proposals got officially approved in the first half of 2016, which exceeds the figures for the first half of 2015 by 8.5%.
