Rosatom Checks Centrifuges in Novouralsk

12 May 2017 (12:51)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 12, 2017. Rosatom’s Novouralsk-based Ural Electrochemical Plant has completed gauging the technical parameters of an experimental set of upgraded, ninth-generation gas centrifuges that are used as part of the technological department’s spacer blocks, the company press service reports.

The company’s acceptance committee stated at the end of last year that the upgraded gas centrifuges in question could very well be produced on a serial scale. The plant now intends to keep controlling the equipment’s performance parameters until the centrifuges have been switched to standard operation mode.

The gauging procedures confirmed that the centrifuges, created on the plant’s premises, are quite reliable and. most importantly, never fail to perform their spacing function. So far, all the performance parameters have been stable and complied with the figures stated in the project documentation.

The measurements were taken both in regular operating mode and in customized settings in order to evaluate the machines’ reserves both for standard and emergency modes and to make the necessary adjustments for possible emergencies.
