28 March 2017 (13:27)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 28, 2017. Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu coordinated the United Military Produce Acceptance Day for enterprises involved in meeting the government’s defense procurement requirements, Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s press service reports.
The corporation’s Deputy DG for Special-Purpose Vehicles Vyacheslav Khalitov reported on meeting this year’s target figures. Khalitov said the set of twenty T 72B3 upgraded tanks got the military officials’ approval and was sent to the Russian Army.
‘The company intends to meet its contractual obligations with Russia’s Defense Ministry in time and in full,’ he said.
T 72B3 was designed at the corporation’s Ural Transport Machine-Building Design Office and accepted by the Russian Armed Forces after a decree to this effect was signed by the Defense Minister. This tank make has been made at Nizhniy Tagil-based Ural Vagon Zavod for several years now; the older-generation T 72B tanks get upgraded, overhauled, and supplied to the Army. In fact, Russian teams use these tanks to win the international tank biathlon championships every year.
