Ural Vagon Zavod Joins Strategic Partnership 1520

Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation took part in Strategic Partnership 1520: Caspian Region, the international raid industry business forum, in Baku on November 24-25, the company press service reports.

The forum was primarily dedicated to the International North-South Transport Corridor, a multi-modal route that makes freight forwarding from India, Iran, and the Persian Gulf to Azerbaijan, Russia, and then to Northern and Western Europe possible by sea or by rail/road. The route was designed as a speedier and lest costly alternative to the overloaded Suez Canal.

The participating countries’ representatives met before to talk about the cross-border infrastructure development and uniting railroads and motorways as well ferries operating between Astrakhan, Olya, and Makhachkala on the Russian side and Aktau, Baku, Turkmenbashi, and Iranian ports on Azerbaijanian, Turkmenian, and Iranian sides.

As providing good quality railcars is crucial to efficient transport flow and unfailing logistics, Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko presented his report on the company’s rolling stock during a plenary session on Caspian transit and the ways the four corners of the earth can be connected.
