ChTZ to Supply Tractors to Cuba

21 November 2016 (09:29)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 21, 2016. Representatives of the Cuban company Energoimport and Russia’s Inter RAO Export came to Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (ChTZ Uraltrac) to hold negotiations on future cooperation and take a look at the plant’s produce and potential, ChTZ Uraltrac’s press service reports.

The two companies are getting ready to start a large-scale construction project in Cuba that will result in four power-generating units (total capacity 800MW).

During their meeting with the plant’s director Vyacheslav Yumatov, the visitors explained the funds for putting up power-generating units at Cuba’s Maximo Gomez and Eastern Havana plants would be provided through a special-purpose loan Russia is offering Cuba. This is going to be Moscow and Havana’s largest-scale intergovernmental project in modern history that will signal a new beginning for the Cuban energy system.

Russian vehicles and equipment will be used in the construction process; the work is expected to start in 2019, whereas the equipment and tractors must get there as soon as next year. This is why visitors to the plant were particularly interested in looking at Chelyabinsk bulldozers, including the powerful diesel-electric ones, and wheeled loaders.
