Kamensk-Uralsky Foundry Plant to Install Warplane at Entrance

16 September 2016 (13:01)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 16, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Kamensk-Uralsky Foundry Plant (KULZ) is going to have a warplane from the eighties installed at the plant entrance, the company press service reports.

‘A SU-17 will be mounted on a pedestal to become both the plant’s and the city’s landmark. The plane parts that are currently lying around waiting to be put together are already getting lots of attention from passers-by and neighboring plants’ workers,’ the press service says.

The plane parts, delivered in several installments from a military unit in Orenburg Region, are now being assembled. The worn-out plane used to be stored in the old vehicle warehouse up to now.

The decision to have a warplane installed next to the plant entrance has to do with the upcoming special date: KULZ was founded seventy-five years ago next year. The plant makes aircraft wheels and takeoff and landing appliances control units, among other goods. KULZ used to manufacture five different products specifically for SU-17 planes, including two types of brake wheels.

The deadline for getting the plane assembled and painted is flexible and depends on the weather.
