SverdNIIkhimmash Supplies Heaters to Nuclear Plant in China
1 August 2016 (13:33)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 1, 2016. Rosatom’s SverdNIIkhimmash had electric heaters for power-generating units delivered to Tianwan Nuclear Power Station in China. This transaction was worth more than 30m RUR, the company press service reports.
The heaters are part of the hydrogen burning system necessary to filter the nuclear reactors’ gas emissions from hydrogen and thus avoid explosions. The devices heat the steam-gas mixture to 120-140 degrees centigrade to ensure proper evaporation.
Tianwan Nuclear Power Station is built according to the improved Russian design AES 91 and is considered to be the world’s safest active nuclear plant. The station currently operates two 1,000-megawatt power-generating units, with two more under construction and scheduled for launch in 2018.
