Sixteen toy soldiers whose faces resemble the actual combatants were cast in the Urals specially for the purpose. Among these war heroes are the artillerist Mikhail Medyakov from Chelyabinsk, the sailor Ivan Govorukhin from Varna, South Urals, Marshal of the Soviet Union Boris Shaposhnikov from Zlatoust, and the sniper Natalya Kovshova. On the screen, young actors from children’s acting schools are playing with toy soldiers and talking about the actual soldiers’ plight. The voice-over is done by the musician Oleg Mityayev.
The Invincible Ones have already been shown at Chelyabinsk schools, namely, Natalya Kovshova School 56 and Lyceum 11. The schoolchildren were truly touched by their fellow countrymen and women’s life stories, given especially that these were presented by the actors of their own age.
