Yekaterinburg: Akademichesky District Celebrates V-Day

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 10, 2016. A number of special events dedicated to the 71st Great Patriotic War Victory Day will take place in Akademichesky District of Yekaterinburg, the press service for RSG Akademicheskoye reports.
‘Victory Day will be celebrated as a great people’s holiday. Even though this is one of the city’s newest districts, there are cherished war veterans and home front workers in the history of every family here. It is these heroes’ portraits that the locals are going to carry during the annual Immortal Regiment March on May 7, the Saturday before V-Day,’ the company says.
A new fir tree alley will be planted along Mekhrentsev St at 11:30 AM, before the memorial march begins. Seventy-one trees (one for each year since 1945) will complete the alley. The march will begin at noon from Pavel Shamanov St and will move along Mekhrentsev St and Krasnolesye St.
