Ural Vagon Zavod Sells Fire Trucks

23 March 2016 (09:29)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 23, 2016. Omsktransmash (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) manufactured and delivered to customer its first two special fire trucks that are expected to be produced on a serial scale in the future.

According to the company press service, the trucks withstood all the tests and trials and were approved all around. Under the terms of the contract, the customer is to receive the vehicles at the end of March.

The special-purpose fire truck was designed at Omsktransmash in 2012 and presented at Russia Arms Expo in Nizhniy Tagil in September 2013. The fact that the fire truck could be operated remotely, with no crew on board, proved particularly interesting. The truck was accepted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2015.

The truck is meant for fighting forest fires, for rescue operations at arsenals and warehouses where explosives are stored, and for clearing fire belts and pathways necessary to reach the fire front. It is unique in that the armored cabin gives the crew extra protection from the outside impact. The vehicle weighs under 60,000 kg, is fit for three people, holds 25 m2 of water/fire suppressants, and has a 100-meter effective jet range.
