MMK Group invests 5.1bn RUR in production development

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, September 7, 2015. MMK Group invested 5.1bn RUR in the production development of its member enterprises, including 4.6bn RUR directed to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works, the company reports.

A big part of the money (1.2bn RUR) was spent on retooling Blast Furnace 8. 800,000m RUR more will be required to complete the renovation.

MMK Group keeps investing in reconstruction of its environmental protection facilities and in trying to reduce the company’s negative impact on the air quality. The tasks currently at hand are the reconstruction of Sulfur Filter Unit 2 and the construction of a closed coke gas cycle in the coke and by-product process department.

The former project includes the construction of three similar gas-sintering systems consisting of two filtering units, an electric filter, and a scrubbing unit.
