Sverdlovsk Region’s industrial production index drops 3.7%

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 16, 2015. Sverdlovsk Region’s industrial production index dropped by 3.7% in the first half of 2015 compared with the first half of 2014, Sverdlovskstat reports.

At the same time, the index rose by 5.7% in June 2015 compared with the previous month.

The index declined by 12.1% in the fossil industry and by 1% in the processing industry compared with January-June 2014.

The figures decreased most in the fossil fuels sector (-82.7%), textile and clothing sector (-56%), and pulp and paper and publishing sector (-22.7%). On the other hand, the footwear and leather goods industry was up by 21.6% and the machine-building sector was up by 15.7%.

The index went down by 5% in the metal goods sector compared with January-June 2014, and went up by 4.6% in the electronic and optical equipment sector.

As for the electric power, natural gas, and water distribution industry, the production index declined by 3.7% compared with the first half of 2014 and by 22.1% between May and June 2015.
