Yekaterinburg: Demand for tours to Tunisia to drop
1 July 2015 (13:38)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 1, 2015. The terrorist act at one of the five-star hotels in Sousse, Tunisia, on June 26 is expected to have a negative impact on tourist traffic, feels director of Zima-Leto Tours Olga Gulyar.
She says Tunisia-bound flights are operated from Yekaterinburg every ten days this year. The next flights are scheduled for June 29 and July 10, they haven’t been cancelled, and bookings are being made. However, not all of the plane tickets will actually get sold: a number of passengers have changed their minds about going to Tunisia within the last few days.
‘Tunisia used to be very popular up to 2011, when a revolution and mass unrest occurred there. The place has enjoyed some very moderate demand since then, even though tours come very inexpensively: a ten-day stay at a three-star hotel in Hammamet costs around 25,000 RUR per person. Following the last events, the demand will probably drop to its all-time low: few people would agree to go on an inexpensive yet life- and health-threatening vacation,’ Gulyar said.
