UVZ’s Volchansk branch makes first insulated containers

May 22, 2015. Volchansk Mechanical Plant (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) produced its first pair of special-purpose insulated containers 23-5165-01 meant for transportation of as-cast billets, the corporation’s press service reports.
The containers were developed by Ural Carriage-Building Design Office by order of an Urals-based enterprise.
‘This railway vehicle variety is meant for transportation of as-cast billets on a plant’s railway siding and is designed as a platform with five support beams for placing four billets and a removable heat-reflecting lid there. The container’s capacity stands at 95,000 kg. The model is best suited for transportation of square- and round-shaped billets with the diameter of 430 mm that are up to 1,100 degrees centigrade hot,’ the press service says.
The 23-5165-01 insulated container was tested on Volchansk plant’s premises in April 2015. The tests were supervised by experts from the customer company, Ural Carriage-Building Design Office, Volchansk Mechanical Plant, and UBT-Uralvagonzavod.
