Monuments in Nizhniy Tagil to get QR codes

8 April 2015 (09:19)

April 8, 2015. QR codes will appear on Nizhniy Tagil’s important war landmarks in celebration of Victory Day. The whole thing is coordinated by Uralvagonzavod Corporation, the company press service reports.

‘Thanks to these 2D barcodes, it will take smartphone users just a click to find out about the historic places and learn about the well-known local residents’ contribution to winning the war, as well as about the efforts of those who were evacuated to Ural Tank Plant 183 (know known as Uralvagonzavod),’ the press service says.

The QR codes will appear in Glory Square, Memorial Hill, and Tank T34 Memorial next to Uralvagonzavod’s central entrance as well as in other, less famous places, including the building of Construction Trust 88: a military airfield was located here in the war times, as local historians recently discovered.

The 2D codes will also appear in streets named after Heroes of Soviet Union Nikolay I. Belyavsky and Ivan N. Motin. The modern technologies will also provide information on the biography and professional achievements of the designer of the legendary T34 and Uralvagonzavod’s Chief Designer in 1941-1951 Alexander A. Morozov.
