January 13, 2015. Seventeen schoolchildren from Karabash spent a fortnight at Russkoye Pole, a health resort near Chekhov, Moscow Region. The children were treated to a full range of healthcare services, including hydrotherapy, exercise therapy, and medical/social rehabilitation, Russian Copper Company’s PR & Social Policy Department reports.
The kids took therapeutic baths, swam in the pool, went inside a speleotherapy chamber, spent plenty of time outside on a daily basis as well as traveled to Moscow and Moscow Region.
According to Prof. Yelena Zhukovskaya of Dmitri Rogachev Federal Scientific and Clinical Centre of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, such short-term stays in a new locale are beneficial not only due to therapeutic services on offer but also due to the so-called elimination effect, when all of the body’s systems and organs get ‘rebooted’ under new climatic and geochemical conditions. A different kind of air one breathes, of food one eats, and of water one drinks helps get rid of the familiar pollutants, classical chemical theory states. This is why going to a health resort is so good for you, and why physicians from the old times were always going on about its salubrious effects. Now Russkoye Pole is located in one of Moscow Region’s greenest areas; moreover, the visiting teenagers had a chance to talk their problems over with a skilled psychologist (and get help on career choices as well).
