October 8, 2014. Sverdlovsk Region authorities are planning to get 2.16m sq m of housing commissioned here by early 2016, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeniy Kuivashev said when going over the budget figures for 2015 and the plans for 2016-2017.
‘I feel it is necessary to put up more housing, including the homes that will be let to tenants, and to introduce modern resource-saving construction technologies. Our task is to raise the new housing output to 2.16m sq m by 2016,’ Kuivashev said.
According to the Governor’s address to the Legislative Assembly, almost 16,000 people are to be relocated from dilapidated dwellings by September 1, 2017. Over a thousand buildings that have been declared dilapidated and not fit to live in must be pulled down.
