October 7, 2014. ChTPZ Group’s warehouse facility (Uraltrubostal Trading House) is introducing the WMS, Warehouse Management System, in order to speed up the shipment process and enhance the efficiency of managing the stock balance through special data collection terminals that are used for product identification, the company’s press service reports.
The WMS will help the company avoid the entry of stock changes under the wrong heading as well as to track the produce logistics from the moment it leaves the plant premises to the moment it arrives to the end user. There could be over 1,200 pipe varieties stored at one metal goods warehouse; the data collection terminals read the unique barcode off every item and automatically enter them into a database.
The company’s warehouses in Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Saint Petersburg have already been fitted with the identification systems. The WMS is also being introduced at the metal goods warehouse Yekaterinburg. By the end of 2015, the system will probably have arrived at all of the warehouse network’s divisions.
‘The WMS makes the entire supply chain transparent and allows us to keep track and account for all the goods more efficiently. Thanks to the WMS, there will be no shipment stoppages. The main idea behind this novelty is to ensure the fastest and the most comfortable customer service possible,’ says Uraltrubostal’s Director-General Roman Zelenin.
