Yekaterinburg Suffers from Warehouse Shortage, Andrei Bril Says

Yekaterinburg warehouse market is currently suffering from space shortage, the authorized representative of the Managers & Developers Guild in Yekaterinburg & Sverdlovsk Region Andrei Bril told UrBC.

According to the expert, warehouses were the segment that had suffered the most during the recession, and there was a great number of construction halts. This is why the shortage of good quality warehouses is keenly felt.

‘The developers are reacting to this shortage, so they are going for the warehouse segment again at the moment. One should bear in mind, however, that the lags between the start of a project and its breakthrough into the market come to several years, so the shortage will be made up for, but not right away,’ Bril said.

The Director-General of Oboronsnabsbyt Igor Sukhanov says the warehouse market situation looks good for developers: there are already waiting lists for this type of real estate.

‘Our warehouse facility is currently 100% full; there is also a waiting list that has both new tenants and existing ones (who want to expand the space they are renting). A warehouse with the area between 500 and 1,000 sq m is the most popular product at the moment,’ Sukhanov explained.
