September 12, 2014. Experts from Bank Koltso Urala’s plastic card commission-based services department announced the statistics on the card use during the vacation season. The analysis of customers’ plastic card transactions indicates that July proved the ‘busiest’ month for travelers, the bank’s press service says.
‘The number and sums of commission-based transactions of Bank Koltso Urala’s cardholders rose by nearly a quarter (23%) in July 2014 compared with June. There was a certain decline in August, yet the figure still stood at the impressive 18%,’ says the department’s head Irina Burnbayeva.
According to this expert, the number of cashless transactions in US dollars was almost six times bigger than the number of such transactions in Euros. As usual, most of the money (and most frequently) was spent with the help of a bank card at supermarkets, restaurants, filling stations, and strong drinks shops.
Besides, the scale of hotel bookings was 20% to 30% bigger in the summer compared with the winter and spring months. In addition, the scale of using one’s card to pay for airline or train tickets soared by over 80%.
