September 3, 2014. 300 displaced persons from Southeast Ukraine found jobs in Sverdlovsk Region, Director of Sverdlovsk Region Labor Department’s employment division Elena Osudina said at a press conference in Yekaterinburg.

According to Osudina, despite the locals’ concerns, finding employment for Ukrainian citizens is not going to seriously affect the availability of jobs in Yekaterinburg. There are currently 54,000 vacancies available in the Labor Department’s database.

In fact, the department starts looking for suitable positions both in Yekaterinburg and other cities both in Sverdlovsk Region and other federal constituencies as soon as arriving Ukrainians register with the local authorities.

Based on the data provided by Sverdlovsk Region division of the Federal Migration Service, 2,720 Ukrainians have applied for registration so far. The figure includes 656 children. 2,635 refugees have already been given asylum in 27 accommodation centers.
