January 23, 2014. 990 Sverdlovsk Region-based enterprises will need foreign workers in 2014.

Director of Sverdlovsk Region Labor & Employment Department Dmitri Antonov said at a press conference that the foreign worker quota was set at 40,048 people for this year, which is 11,000 fewer people than last year.

’10,000 foreign workers out of the total number will have a visa issued, the rest will be able to enter the country without a visa,’ he said.

Sverdlovsk Region-based businesses mainly use foreign workers as general laborers, drivers, loader, and bus/tram conductors.

According to the Director of the Federal Migration Service’s Sverdlovsk Region Labor Migration division Elena Otinova, these are normally the citizens of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine who come to Russia on a visa-free admission basis.
