August 25 2014. An off-site meeting of the Union of Industrialists & Entrepreneurs’ social partnership committee dedicated to the role businesses play in promoting a healthier lifestyle took place at Uralvagonzavod Corporaiton’s head plant’s Palace of Culture.
According to the corporation’s press service, the meeting participants talked about improving the quality of industrial cadre, promoting a healthier lifestyle, and preventing work-related diseases.
The meeting was attended by experts from the corporation’s head plant as well as from Seversky Pipe Plant, ChTPZ Group, Sinara Pipe Plant, Uralasbest, and other Sverdlovsk Region-based enterprises and holdings. The discussion was moderated by the Union’s Executive Vice President and chair of the social partnership committee Tatiana Kansafarova.
Head of Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s Social Work Department Yulia Trubitsina shared her experience in planting healthier habits in the company team. The corporation focuses a lot on dynamic recreational activities and sports. The so-called Spartak Games, which gather together increasingly more contestants every year, are very popular with the corporation workers. 12,747 employees joined the games in the first half of 2014 alone.
‘The discussion resulted in an action plan. The participants pointed out that Sverdlovsk Region-based industrial enterprises take the issue of their workers and their families’ healthy lifestyles very seriously. Most of our employers go through with annual medical checkups, vaccination campaigns, and voluntary medical insurance policies or services of the company medical unit; they also subsidize sports workouts, fully or partially cover trips to health resorts and sanatoriums, and offer meals at their cafeterias at half-price. Local companies spend over 400m RUR on their employees’ children’s health campaigns every year,’ the corporation’s press service says.
