April 23, 2015. Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s head plant hosted an off-site meeting of Sverdlovsk Region Legislative Assembly. Members of Social Policy and Infrastructure Development & Housing Policy Committees talked about ways in which large industrial companies and government authorities could cooperate to promote social partnership and improve the city infrastructure, the corporation’s press service reports.
Uralvagonzavod HR Director and Nizhniy Tagil Duma deputy Sergey Saranchuk said the plant was implementing its Social Development Program, with focus on physical education and sports, recreation and health improvement, and housing. The plant makes sure its employees have access to medical services: there is a polyclinic and seventeen medical units on the premises of the plant, and another clinic is being put up in Nizhniy Tagil.
Uralvagonzavod Executive Director and Deputy Chair of Infrastructure Development & Housing Policy Committee Vladimir Roshchupkin stressed the importance of improving the living standards of Nizhniy Tagil’s population. He also pointed to lack of infrastructure for holding international events (including Russia Arms Expo) and lack of hotel facilities for the visitors to these events. This is why the plant contributed to the construction of Park Inn by Radisson in the city center.
Deputy Mayor for Financial & Economic Policy Evgeniya Cheremnykh said Nizhniy Tagil adopted a working scheme for the city council to liaise with the city’s primary employer: the construction of the hotel attracted private investors as well as a federal budget grant to restore the embankment of Tagil Pond which the hotel overlooks.
