June 23, 2014. Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeniy Kuivashev paid a visit to Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ, a member enterprise of Pipe Metallurgical Company/TMK) on June 19, 2014.

According to TMK’s press service, the Governor started his tour from examining the suburban residential area called the Birch Tree Grove that had been put up by the plant. STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev put the Governor in the picture of how the company employee housing program was moving on. The first section of the cottages was put up in 2011; it comprises 122 two-storey cottages with the area of 156 sq m each. The second section will comprise four three-storey buildings with 72 apartments in them and 126 private houses with 120-square-meter apartments.

Pipe-Rolling Dpt 1 was the focus of the Governor’s visit to the plant itself. This department is now completing the construction of the FQM continuous pipe-rolling mill. The plant embarked on this project in 2010 without any production halts. By now, most of the startup and commissioning jobs have been completed, and the mill is to undergo some hot equipment testing in the nearest future. The mill is scheduled for launch in 2014.

Evgeniy Kuivashev was impressed with the scale of all the production reconstruction jobs.

‘It is pleasantly surprising to see that it only took the project three and a half years to evolve from a mere idea to full-scale reality. Thanks to TMK and STZ competence, it was possible to implement a project this big over such a short period of time,’ the official said.
