UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 27, 2015. Seversky Pipe Plant/STZ (a member enterprise of Pipe Metallurgical Company) launched a special production shop to make punches for its continuous Fine Quality Mill, the company press service reports.

The new shop opened on the eve of Metallurgist’s Day. The opening ceremony was attended by Sverdlovsk Region’s Vice Premier Yakov Silin, Pipe Metallurgical Company’s First Deputy DG Alexander Lyalkov, and STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev.

The company says the new shop will deal in both making and repairing the FQM punches. The place is fitted with two lathes, two grinding machines, a straightening press, a thermal treatment furnace, and a chrome-plating unit. All of these are high-precision pieces of equipment that meet the latest technological standards. The shop is expected to make 300 punches a year.

‘An FQM punch shop was launched today. The precision of this product affects directly the quality of our weldless pipes. The new division will provide enough punches not only for our plant but also for Pipe Metallurgical Company’s other member enterprises. This means the plant’s development contributes both to the future of this town and to the future of this country,’ STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev said.
