June 17, 2014. Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ, a member enterprise of ChTPZ Group) shipped four pipes, each with the diameter of 1,420mm and wall width 21.7mm, with inner and outer corrosion-resistant coating, made of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works-made steel sheets with strength grade K60, to Gazprom: the pipes are meant for welding the so-called ‘golden abut’ of the Russian natural gas pipeline project, the Power of Siberia.

According to the company’s press service, Gazprom placed the order for a set of large-diameter pipes with ChTPZ Group.

‘We are proud of the fact that our company has the honor of supplying pipe products for the launch of such a grand and economically significant project as the Power of Siberia. The pipe manufacturers from Chelyabinsk-based plant have been taking part in all the nationally important pipeline construction projects since the Soviet times. Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant’s LDPs meet the highest standards and customer requirements and can be used for the construction of main natural gas pipelines that run through active tectonic fault zones: this has been proven by a compliance certificate issued by Gazprom VNIIGAZ; such pipes will be necessary for the construction of the Power of Siberia,’ says ChTPZ BOD Chairman Alexander Fedorov.
