March 31, 2014. Burevestnik, a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation, was visited by Mayor of Nizhniy Novgorod Oleg Sorokin. The visit took place within the framework of the mayor’s meetings with the work teams of the city’s leading enterprises and with university faculty and student body, the corporation’s press service reports.
The meeting was devoted to a serious talk on the local authorities’ achievements and problems and on the city’s overall problems that worry everyone. Those present at the meeting had a chance to ask their questions on the city’s development prospects.
‘Oleg Sorokin prepared specific data and facts that presented the city council’s efforts over the three years: 18 new kindergartens were opened, 5 apartment blocks to relocate people from tenements were put up, and 2 new sports facilities were launched. He was also very frank about the problems that had accumulated over the years. It is impossible to deal with all the problems at once, so some priorities were set, and most of the efforts would be directed there,’ the press service says.
‘This is not the first time the mayor meets a company’s team, and people always talk about the same problems. I am getting more and more convinced that we have chosen the right priorities: housing, transport, kindergartens, and improvement of yards: this is what most people face on a daily basis,’ Sorokin said.
The mayor also spoke about the creation of new, efficient, well-paid and highly productive jobs. He pointed out that Burevestnik was one of Nizhniy Novgorod’s leading enterprises that made the city attractive for young graduates, since it is the overlap of science and production that makes a job so interesting for the youth.
