STZ celebrates first pipe anniversary

December 26, 2013. Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ, a member of Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK)), celebrated one of the most important dates in the history of the company. Fifty years ago, the first pipe was produced at Seversky Metallurgical Plant, and the company soon changed its specialization and its name to Seversky Pipe Plant, the enterprise’s press service reports.

Most of the festivities took place at the electric pipe welding department 2 on December 20, where a solemn ceremony of welding the 22,000,000th ton of pipes took place. Deputy DG and TMK Chief Engineer Alexander Klachkov, STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev, and Mayor of Polevskoy Alexander Kovalev left their autographs and wishes on the special pipe. Then, the department’s best workers were awarded at the party at the plant’s Palace of Culture.

During this anniversary year, the plant saw to it that its long-service former employees and current workers got involved in a number of other events, including photo exhibitions. For one, the Family Archive exhibition presented unique pictures from the family albums of the department’s long-service employees, who actually took part in the production of the plant’s first pipe.

A personal exhibition by the department employee and a well-known local photographer Ivan Zakharov was coordinated on the production site. The exhibition was called ‘This Is Life’. The black and white photos were placed right next to the technological equipment, which gave a new aspect to the plant workers’ daily performance. The exhibition was available not only for the department and plant employees but also to the older students of School 18. In the future, the exhibition will be taken to the plant’s Palace of Culture. The relocation is scheduled for early 2014.
