Canada promises to support Yekaterinburg in EXPO 2020 application process

July 11, 2013. Canada is going to vote for Yekaterinburg when deciding upon the city that will host the international exhibition EXPO 2020, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Russia John Sloan told Mayor of Yekaterinburg Evgeny Porunov in the course of their meeting.

The city council's press service reports that the Ambassador spoke highly of the up-to-date look the Urals' capital has, and of the city's advanced development. The two parties talked about the prospects of their possible cooperation. For one, the Canadian officials suggested sharing their experience in the field of private housing construction with the use of wooden or metal frames, doing the earthwork, preparing the engineering and the transportation infrastructure, energy-saving, and coordinating large-scale international events.

The Canadian delegation will stay in Yekaterinburg for a few days so as to take part in the international exhibition Innoprom 2013.
