Uralvagonzavod employee declared honorary citizen of Nizhniy Tagil

July 1, 2013. Head of Uralvagonzavod Railway Carriage Assembly Department Leonid Matveyev was elected the honorary citizen of Nizhniy Tagil. The overwhelming majority of the municipal Duma deputies voted for his candidacy, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s press service reports.
Leonid Matveyev was born in Serebryanka, Prigorodny District, Sverdlovsk Region, in 1951. He came to work at the corporation in 1970 and stayed with the Railway Carriage Assembly Department for over 36 years, moving from an electric welder to the head of this department that is known for the complexity of the products it makes.
Last year, the department, headed by Matveyev, set a record by producing about 28,000 railway vehicles. This is the greatest number of railway vehicles manufactured not only in Russia and the CIS but also in the whole world.
