Russia-EU Summit closes in Yekaterinburg

June 5, 2013. The 31st Russia-EU Summit was officially closed in Yekaterinburg.

The spokesperson for the Kremlin reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, and Chairman of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso talked about the pressing issues relating to the two parties’ trade and economic and humanitarian cooperation and about the ways of improving the contractual legal framework of these relations.

Special attention was paid to working on a new framework agreement between Russia and the EU that will take into account the emerging Eurasian integration processes.

The parties also spoke about cooperating in the fields of energy, security, and drug interdiction. An agreement on drug precursors targeted at improving cooperation between drug interdiction services was signed during the summit. As for the international issues, the situation in Syria was discussed.
