Yekaterinburg municipal buses get emergency buttons

4 June 2013 (09:25)

June 4, 2013. All of Yekaterinburg Bus Union Municipal Unitary Enterprise’s buses have been fitted with an alarm button for informing dispatchers about emergencies.

Yekaterinburg Council’s press service reports that this comes to 525 buses that transport about a half of all the passengers who use the intra-city routes.

To make passenger trips safer, all the drivers and bus fare collectors are obliged to undergo special training on how to act in case some explosive or life-threatening substances or unattended bags and packages are found in the cabin. Besides, during their trip along the route drivers use the PA system on a regular basis to inform the passengers of what they should do in case they detect some suspicious-looking items.
