May 13, 2013. Thanks to support from Sverdlovsk Region Government, 3, 436 Great Patriotic War veterans living in the area received a one-time allowance to have their homes remodeled, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s Press Service & Information Department reports.

In 2011, some changes were made to the local Social Support to Sverdlovsk Region War Veterans Act dated November 25, 2004 (190-OZ); these changes provided for incidental 100,000-rouble allowances to the Great Patriotic War veterans to have their dwellings remodeled or repaired. Over 3,400 veterans have been given the subsidy since then, including 74 people in 2013. In 2011-2012, the subsidy was offered to the GPW veterans who lived on their own in private houses. Then, the region’s government and Sverdlovsk Region Legislative Assembly deputies decided to expand the list of veterans entitled to this subsidy.

Now the incidental remodeling allowance is offered to GPW veterans who live in Sverdlovsk Region and have owned a dwelling for at least five years.
