‘Sverdlovsk Region’s volunteer center has completed yet another stage of preparing its team for joining the 27th World Summer Student Olympics 2013 in Kazan. The center’s specialists processed over 900 applications in three months and conducted more than 500 face-to-face interviews with the candidates. The recruitment process was focused on the candidates’ motivation and leadership skills and on their ability to act under unordinary circumstances and make the right decisions over a limited period of time. Also, a lot of attention was paid to the candidates’ volunteer work experience. 60% of all the candidates have already taken part in various volunteer projects before, and for 40% of the selected candidates, helping at the Student Olympics will be their first experience of doing something pro bono,’ says Head of Sverdlovsk Region volunteer center Alexander Antimonov.
